Jana Brown is a writer and editor of multiple genres. She has been writing professionally for more than 25 years. A Boston native and a graduate of Dartmouth College, she has worked in the publishing, newspaper, and magazine industries and currently works as a freelance writer and editor for many publications from her home base in Concord, New Hampshire.
 
Jana's writing experience includes exploring in depth a wide variety of subjects, from general interest to arts to sports and everything in between. Her career began as a journalist with the Salem Evening News in Salem, Mass., and continued with 10 years as a writer, columnist, and women's editor of Lacrosse Magazine. That stint overlapped with her initial six years as the primary writer and editor at St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H. For the last eight years of her time at St. Paul's, she served additionally as the editor of the School's quarterly alumni magazine, a job she continued for seven years as a freelancer. With a particular expertise in the educational market, Jana has written extensively on many topics, including secondary school and college admissions - both through feature articles and in marketing materials. She has written hundreds of profiles of individuals from all walks of life for magazine publication and for alumni and development interests. 
 
After more than two decades as a full-time communications professional, in 2015, Jana set out on her own as a freelance writer and editor, founding 930 Creative LLC, a freelance writing and editorial services company. The driving inspiration for the change in career path was the production of her first full screenplay,  The Divide, an independent feature film that enjoyed a successful film festival run in 2018, earning 26 awards and 38 nominations. It was released worldwide by Random Media in 2020.

Jana has earned a Best First Time Screenwriter Award from the Los Angeles Film Awards (2018) and a Silver Award for screenwriting from the International Independent Film Awards (2018). At the LA Film Awards, The Divide was a finalist for Best Picture and also earned Best Western honors

Her short comedy, Perfect Match (2022), enjoyed a successful festival run, and her second feature-length screenplay, We'll Wait Here, is currently in development. Jana also is the writer of the short drama Finding Serenity (2023) and is the writer of a limited series that is currently in development.
